lost for words

lost for words

I want to write a poem for
you, but there are not enough
galaxies in the sky to
form dreams close
enough
to your burning
shades of
pink.
You walk in, strut in, stabbing
thorns grow from my
fingers and
somehow, I’m
falling into
them and out of
this tiny
box of
sanity
I’ve been holding
close.
You make sweet
music for my
ears and I am
here,
vulnerable,
overly passionate
once
again.
Slow-paced, you wait for
your chance, terrifying cliffs
lace reflecting waters
in the dusk, yet
as you speak
you are
slow,
you are
calm.
You grab pieces of a
puzzle cast out across the
plains and try to
fit the
many pieces
together,
as many as you
can place, and I
am sunken
in, consumed
by the twinkle of
starlight and the
sudden sweet
tweeting of your
lips heard
echoing
across
the room.
I want to write a poem for
you, but there are no
words to touch
the distance of
mountains and nothing
to compare to
your
heart.
I am left here in a dreamscape,
wondering
how far your
beauty reaches
and how
it is
you’re
human
and
feeling
completely
lost for
words.
